Jesús del Barrio completed his Ph.D. degree at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, in 2010 in the area of photoresponsive polymers for optical applications. He then moved to the U.K. to work on supramolecular materials with Professor Oren A. Scherman at The University of Cambridge. In 2014, he took up a position as a research scientist at the Schlumberger Gould Research Center in Cambridge, U.K. Since 2017, he has been a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow at the University of Zaragoza. His work encompasses both fundamental and applied research in soft matter systems, dynamic polymeric materials and supramolecular chemistry.
